The presenters are encouraged to divert from the standard lecture format and include a more interactive and lived expertise approach towards their content. There will be 4-keynote speakers and 5-invited speakers. The keynote presentations will be 1 hour and 30 minutes, including a 15 minute Q & A. Invited speakers will have approximately 1 hour in the format of their choice, including a 10 minute Q & A. Participating speakers will be allowed to choice either a power point or poster presentation. Participating speakers will be allotted approximately 30 minutes, including a 5 minute Q & A.
The target audience of this conference will be for any and all psychological educators, practitioners, undergraduate and graduate students, therapistis and clinicians, and enthusiasts who desire to further their understanding and application of psychological theory and methods. Specifically, the content will be inclusive of cultural and human experiences in the psychological domain of humanities and transpersonal psychology. According to The Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of Transpersonal Psychology, Hartelius (2007) offers three themes:
Transpersonal psychology as a beyond-ego psychology, as an integrative/holistic psychology, and as a psychology of transformation. As a beyond-ego psychology, it focuses on experiences stemming from intentional practices such as shamanism and meditation, as well as occurrences that arise from various forms of mysticism, psi phenomena, near-death, and out-of-body experiences, which do not necessarily require intentional practices. These can lead to various experiences, such as transcendent, peak, and unitive, and also to a variety of stages or qualities that can be seen as beyond-ego, such as compassion and altruism. These later are related to developmental levels of optimal human potential, including higher consciousness, advanced ego maturity, and elevated values, meaning, and purpose reflecting such a potential. (p. 05)
The presentation content will be a groundbreaking introduction of humanities and transpersonal psychology to Bali, Indonesia, and to South East Asia. In collaboration with the Light Inspired Transformations Community, Udayana University, Sofia University, California Institute of Integral Studies, the Association for Transpersonal Psychology, the International Transpersonal Association, and the International Journal of Transpersonal Studies are proud to invite all novice and experienced humanities and transpersonal educators, practitioners, and students to the mystical and culturally wealthy island of Bali, Indonesia for a pre-conference workshop with award winning author Jorge Ferrer, a 3-day transformative conference; followed by a 3-day guided retreat to some of the jewels of Indonesia and the world!
We will see you on the other side, July 31st-August 2nd, 2015 (optional workshop July 30th, 2015; retreat August 3rd-5th, 2015).
